The Science

The Science of suPAR.

suPAR is the soluble form of uPAR, a receptor found on the surface of immune cells and other cell types. When uPAR is cleaved from the cell surface, suPAR can be released into circulation and measured in blood plasma.

Origin

A Danish research and assay lineage.

suPAR has been studied internationally for decades, with much of the published research generated using the suPARnostic® AUTO Flex ELISA assay platform developed by ViroGates A/S in Denmark. Through an exclusive U.S. distribution agreement with ViroGates, suPAR Bio brings this assay platform to the United States, where it is performed by a CLIA/CAP laboratory as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT).

Why the suPARnostic® AUTO Flex ELISA assay platform?
  • Leading research assayMore than 80% of peer-reviewed suPAR publications have used the suPARnostic® assay platform, supporting direct comparison with much of the published literature.
  • Standardized measurementCalibrators, controls, and standardized protocols promote consistent quantification of suPAR concentrations.
  • European regulatory statusThe suPARnostic® AUTO Flex ELISA assay is certified in Europe. In the United States, suPAR Bio offers testing through a CLIA/CAP laboratory as a Laboratory Developed Test.
  • Laboratory measurement disciplinePublished analytical studies describe assay performance characteristics such as reproducibility and lot-to-lot consistency.
  • Exclusive U.S. accessThrough its exclusive distribution agreement with ViroGates A/S, suPAR Bio makes this assay platform available for U.S. laboratory testing performed under a CLIA/CAP Laboratory Developed Test framework.

Laboratory process

How your suPAR sample is processed.

A CLIA/CAP laboratory in the United States receives your sample, processes it in their facility, and releases the result to the suPAR Bio platform for your viewing.

  1. Sample received

Your blood sample is received and prepared by a CLIA Certified laboratory in the U.S.

  2. Plasma processed

The plasma portion of your blood is used for testing.

  3. suPARnostic® AUTO Flex ELISA analysis

Your plasma is analyzed using the suPARnostic® AUTO Flex ELISA, the assay platform used to measure your suPAR concentration.

  4. Results available

Your laboratory-reviewed suPAR level (ng/mL) is securely delivered through the suPAR Bio Patient Portal, where it is presented within your suPARbio™ Systemic Chronic Inflammation Test Report and personalized results dashboard.
